Background
The Friends of the Robbins Town Gardens was founded in 2014 by a group of concerned citizens galvanized by Catherine Hirani’s impassioned appeal to the Selectmen and the Town that the Robbins Gardens be restored to their former glory. Incorporated as a non-profit 501 (c) (3) in July of 2015, the Friends are managed by a Board of twelve directors. Anyone interested in projects and programs aimed at funding the restoration and perpetual maintenance of the garden is invited to join us.
Our Mission
To develop a sustainable group to work with the Town to oversee and help fund the restoration, preservation and protection of the historic gardens at our civic center: the Winfield Robbins Memorial Garden and the grounds surrounding the Town Hall and the Whittemore-Robbins House.
We Are
People who love the Robbins Town Gardens and want to see them restored and maintained. Our members include Arlington residents who regularly frequent the gardens, people who have memories of important events in the garden, and those who regularly see the garden and who want to see the beautiful garden at the center of Arlington restored. We are historians, invested in preserving local history, gardeners and master gardeners invested in improving and maintaining the landscape, and business people who recognize the importance of this natural oasis to property values and local commerce.
