Hello Garden Friends,I wanted to remind you of our annual meeting on November 20 at 6PM in the Library Community room.  We'll go over what we accomplished this past year, elect new people to the board and new officers and gather suggestions from you about what you would like to see us work on in the future.  If you've ever wondered what our organization does, wanted to help out with our work in the garden, or wanted the chance to suggest things we might want to do, we would love to see you.  We'll have tea, coffee and nibbles.  Hope to see you there.Yours for the GardenChristine Harris - Current President

Progress in the Garden

Progress in the Garden, What's New
As we make progress in replanting, pruning and tending to the garden we'll post updates on our work here so you can follow along. We'll also let you know the help we need either on our work day - Thursday - or watering during the week. If you would like to help us with that please send an email to frg2018@gmail.com Many thanks This past Thursday , 5/19 JoAnn Robinson, Meredith Zona and Mona McKindley spent quite a bit of time cleaning up the winter creeper in the upper woodland.  They removed the excess wintercreeper along the rocks where it is to be preserved and groomed,  by raking with a steel tined rake and hand trimming.   They got half of the area done, filled three leaf bags and were tired…

Earth Day Clean Up A Great Success

Articles, Uncategorized, What's New
The Friends of the Robbins Town Gardens and the Arlington Rotary sponsored a clean-up day in the Robbins Town Gardens between the Library and the Town Hall. We were lucky – with the weather and the turn-out of volunteer helpers.  Several members of the Arlington Rotary, the Friends of the Robbins Town Gardens,  the Arlington Garden Club, and other Arlington residents gathered to help “spruce up” the garden in preparation for the Spring and Summer seasons.   Leftover leaves and sticks from the Winter were raked out from beneath the bushes and bagged for disposal in leaf bags donated by Shattuck Hardware.    A lot of invasive plants were pulled up and some of the compacted soil in the garden beds was turned over and fertilized.  The curves in the beds were more sharply defined, and…

For a  $50 ticket people were treated to a meal from either Jose’s Torta Mexicana or the Blue Ribbon Barbeque, and beer, wine or non-alcoholic beverages. Like a work of Paul Revere’s silver or a master’s painting, designed landscapes need some regular polish to look their best.
